Minford have the honour of being the main sponsor of Ryedale Festival’s Triple Concert at Castle Howard on 23 July. The Festival, of which Johnny is a director, has become one of the top classical musical events in the UK calendar, and the sell-out Triple Concert one of its highlights.
Each played a piece which portrayed a story of the night, and musicians featured include Charles Owen, who will be very familiar to any listeners of BBC Radio 3 in the last year, and Stile Antico, one of the world’s finest vocal ensembles.
The event involves three contrasting concerts in different areas of Castle Howard, each performed three times with the audiences rotating between performances. Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night was performed by sextet Psappha; the vocal group Stile Antico sang a number of works by the great English composers in the chapel; and the third concert was an astonishing piano duet display by leading English pianist Charles Owen and Russian Katya Apekisheva of Stravinsky’s own version of his ballet score Petrushka.
Stile Antico – “An ensemble of breathtaking freshness, vitality and balance” – New York Times.
